Prince William to marry?

If recent rumours are to be believed it could be time for previously over zealous pottery and china merchants to dust off their wedding memorabilia and drag it out of moth balls as speculation of a winter 2010 royal wedding appears immenant for Prince William and his long term girlfriend Kate Middleton.

As many UK stores rushed to unveil their designs for mugs, thimbles, mouse mats and even sweets bearing pictures of the Prince and his sweetheart in 2006, it now appears that the son of Princess Diana and his sweetheart may be about to make an announce to end speculation regarding their relationship.

But, as usual, Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, St James’s Palace, the official name of William’s household, are keeping tight lipped about the Prince’s plans and the only person who appears to be in the know is the well connected former editor and author Tina Brown, who has predicted that the 27 year old Prince plans to announce on either June 3 or 4 that a wedding will take place in November.

Miss Brown, who was a personal friend of Diana, a former editor of Vanity Fair and the publisher of the Princess’s biography, said the hint had come from an anonymous - but impeccable - royal contact, saying, ‘A high-placed source in royal circles tells me that two days in June have been mysteriously blocked out on the palace diaries - June 3 and 4.

The royal writer went on to predict that St George’s Chapel at Windsor, which has hosted several royal weddings of late, including Prince Charles's marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles, would be a likely venue.

So, if all the plans and predictions come to fruition, Miss Middleton, 27, who during the 2008 speculation frenzy revealed that she would prefer to be known as Katherine, would join the realms of three other Queen Catherines, Catherine Parr, Catherine of Aragon and Catherine Howard, all of whom were marrie to Henry viii and all who died while married to him, the last having been beheaded!
